The pandemic has brought changes to the world, both bad and good. Leanne Yarn, owner of the Boca Raton-based interior design firm Yarn Design Associates, has the pandemic to thank for accelerating the growth of her business.
“With so many people moving and purchasing homes in our area the past 3 years, projects that would have taken years to secure happened much quicker,” Yarn says. “My business received a consistent influx of clientele with healthy budgets for design creativity.”
In the wake of COVID-19, many people moved from the Northeast to South Florida. These new residents were buying homes intending to undertake full gut renovations or tear down and rebuild entirely. “For many, this was a permanent transition to reside in Florida and not just a second home, resulting in an elevated willingness to spend on design,” she explains.
Yarn is also contracting with more local clients in Boca Raton and the surrounding areas, building new construction as well as renovating existing homes.
“The pandemic forever changed the way of life for people and spending more time at home was a big one,” she says.
With over a decade in the business, Yarn and her team create sophisticated interiors for today’s modern living. Designing your forever home is what they do best. It’s their goal above all else to make sure that you, the customer, are happy with the result as well as the experience throughout.

“Making clients’ vision a reality takes time, patience and persistent effort,” Yarn says. “Regardless of personal design preference, we’ll handle the details from conceptual development through final installation while helping you steer clear of costly mistakes along the way.”
At Yarn Design Associates, the team’s deep understanding of both new construction and renovation ensures a smooth and seamless design process. Great design is always important, but effectively communicating details to those who are building your home is key to great execution.
Clients predominantly live in Boca Raton, Delray Beach, West Palm Beach and Deerfield Beach. Yarn explains that Gold Coast residences want clean lines and a refreshing look.
“Your home is your sanctuary and where you feel most comfortable. My team and I help families create their ideal home environment with a customized design unique to them. We’ve noticed an increase in requests to incorporate more areas for personal and professional entertaining. Designs are calling for more wet bars and club rooms,” she says. “And of course, since the pandemic, in-home offices have become a priority.”
Yarn works hard to gain people’s trust and is selective about the amount of projects her firm takes on annually to ensure a premium level of client service.
“Although I have not been around as long as some of the other well-known incumbents in my industry, once a client hires me, it doesn’t take long for them to see why I come highly recommended. Based on how I handle myself, my business, our tradespeople, etc., clients can’t imagine working with anyone else,” she says.
Yarn has achieved a lot of success early in her career. Her boutique firm now regularly handles multiple large-scale projects, effortlessly balancing the needs of each throughout their various phases.
“Thanks to the strong relationships I’ve built within our community over time, my business is flourishing. It is the highest compliment and vote of confidence that clients continue to refer my services to their friends and family seeking an interior designer,” says Yarn. “It makes me feel that I must be doing something right and I get to keep doing what I love and do best.”
