California Closets is a household name in creating custom designs to fit any space and budget. Lori Hoyt, who co-owns the business with her brother and sister, is using her platform to inspire women in the community to take control of their health.

According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, one in eight women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.

Hoyt, whose mother was a breast cancer survivor, knows the importance of early detection.

Hoyt and her siblings have owned the local franchise for 24 years, taking over from their parents who brought California Closets to Boca Raton in 1985.

Hoyt treats customers like family, even allowing room in the company’s installation schedule for last-minute or pressing jobs for a client in need.

“A client may call and say, “My mother is moving in and I need help setting up a space for her,’” Hoyt says. “We deliberately leave openings in the installation calendar for those types of requests.”

California Closets stays on top of trends in the industry, now offering proprietary colors in rich warm browns with gold hardware accents that perfectly complement the Sherwin Williams color of the Year.

The goal remains the same for every client — a customized uniquely-tailored closet.

“Every job is different because we make it specifically for our clients,” Hoyt says.
