Stanton Collemer

Cancer Patient Financial Assistance Nonprofit

Stanton Collemer has a long history of helping the less fortunate in the community.

A longtime standout in the fundraising and nonprofit space for healthcare, Collemer is now the CEO of Cancer Alliance of Help & Hope, which provides help to families and patients going through cancer treatments.

Just five years after taking over as CEO, Collemer has quadrupled the number of donations raised by the grassroots organization which has helped over 1,000 individuals a year in Palm Beach County. Cancer Alliance’s main focus is to provide financial assistance for patients including rent/mortgage and utilities, in an amount up to $10,000 per family to help prevent homelessness, loss of vehicle or having utilities shut off.

Collemer, originally from Maine, started his career in hospitality 40 years ago at the famed Breakers Hotel in West Palm Beach. He then joined the Intracoastal Health Foundation and was responsible for raising over $3 million annually to benefit Good Samaritan and St. Mary’s Hospital. He became one of five staff members to launch Palm Healthcare Foundation and served as Chief Development Officer at the Center for Family Services. At the Palm Healthcare Foundation, he oversaw a $9 million capital campaign to build the Mollie Wilmot Center.

No matter the work, Collemer says he never loses sight of who his work benefits: local families in need.

“When COVID-19 hit in 2020, our clients needed us more than ever and the Cancer Alliance never missed a beat. We served 1,500 curbside meals through local restaurants thanks to our generous donors and provided an additional $125,000 in food cards,” he says.

Collemer is growing the Cancer Alliance of Help & Hope organization to provide even more services.

“We started a new program to help care for pets owned by patients going through cancer treatments,” he says.

Collemer continues to host sold-out galas and luncheons at the Breakers Hotel to raise money and recruit more volunteers.

“Our goal is to expand services and increase ways to help,” he says. “After meeting the families, you can’t help but want to do more. This is my calling.”
