Michael Daszkal and Jeff Bolton formed the company in Boca Raton in 1992 with the intention of initially offering Assurance and Tax services. Over the years, the firm added consulting, financial advisory, International and State tax, Estate and Trust, and Family office services.

“They were young and entrepreneurial and left their accounting jobs to start their own company,” points out Tim Devlin, CPA, managing partner. “We morphed from humble beginnings into a 250-person accounting firm.

“We felt that Boca was a great place to grow our business; Boca Raton matches up with our firm’s entrepreneurial spirit.”

Daszkal Bolton’s history with Boca Raton, in fact, has deep roots. Staff members are active in a multitude of charitable and civic organizations within the community and pride themselves on supporting these organizations through volunteerism, membership, and committee/board involvement.

For example, the partners and staff participate every year in the YMCA of South Palm Beach County’s Annual Corporate Cup Challenge in November and Volunteer Day at Boca Helping Hands. Both founding partners have also been recognized as a “Small Business Leader of the Year” by the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce, of which Daszkal Bolton is a Trustee member, and staff is active in the Boca Raton Center for the Arts and Innovation, and the Boca Raton Trust & Estate Council.

In addition, the firm supports charitable organizations outside of Boca Raton through their other offices in Fort Lauderdale, like the Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, and in Jupiter, like Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League in West Palm Beach.

Most importantly, Daszkal Bolton is all about its clients.

“We pride ourselves on growing businesses and helping clients achieve success,” Devlin explains. “Our future is really about adapting to the needs of our clients.”

For instance, the company recently added a director of technology to help businesses with their technology and cybersecurity needs. Daszkal Bolton has also added a Transaction Advisory Practice to assist clients in raising capital and preparing for potential transactions by providing financial, tax, and quality of earnings analysis.

“The firm has been built on adding experts in different areas and having those experts build up those areas,” he adds. “The first area was International Tax; upon joining the firm, we helped that individual build out a complete International Tax Department. We have used that same playbook in a number of areas.”

That, Devlin says, differentiates Daszkal Bolton from the small firms that are built on the expertise of just one or two individuals.

“So, you’re only as good as the people who work here,” he expresses. “We’ve done a good job of attracting and retaining talented people, which is the key. All of our assets go home at night.”

Based on the longevity of the company, it appears that clients would agree.

“I think that clients would most likely say that we’re creative (a tough word in the accounting business) and try to bring cutting-edge solutions to their business opportunities. We are also responsive and are able to help them grow and become more profitable.”
