Country Club COO And General Manager 

Joe Basso brings the prestigious Master Club Manager designation to his title of COO and General Manager of Delaire Country Club in Delray Beach.

Basso is one of just eight current nationwide Country Club COOs who hold the certification, awarded to a special group of professionals who have made extraordinary and long-lasting contributions to the club industry.

Basso spent his whole life in hospitality. He believes people that are successful in this industry are ‘taken’ to it. 

“To be able to offer true hospitality, the generous reception and entertainment of members and their guests, you must have something in you — a passion — to deliver that every day,” Basso says. “I look for people that share that passion, with a service mission to provide members with the highest-level experience every time.”

Basso took the helm at Delaire Country Club in 2019 and has already added value to the club’s 400-plus members and their families.

“We’ve been working since day one on our vision to be one of the premier boutique clubs in South Florida,” he says. “We outlined a very detailed operational and governance plan aimed at just that. The members have supported that vision in approving two different phases of a $12 million capital improvement plan, including infrastructure improvements, landscaping enhancements, a clubhouse renovation and the addition of state-of-the-art pickleball courts.”

The Delaire Country Club is launching an enhanced new communication strategy and website to connect members and provide information about all the club’s offerings. Basso personally writes the “Around the Club” email newsletter sent to members.

With nearly 200 staff and service team members at Delaire Country Club, Basso said he likens his role to that of an orchestra conductor. 

“I make sure everyone is on the same sheet of music and on tempo and we don’t miss a beat,” Basso says. “Delaire is special and we give staff members the tools to offer the highest professional service standards to our members. This is hospitality at the highest level.”
