Dr. Adam J. Lipman And Kessler Sports Medicine Restore Mobility

Dr. Adam J. Lipman and the team at Kessler Sports Medicine Center are getting people back in the game – not only by restoring range of motion, functionality and mobility for people suffering from bone, muscle, tendon, ligament and spine issues and injuries but by giving them back their quality of life.

“I like the fact that I can make people better,” Dr. Lipman says. “We can take a person in pain and completely impact their ability to go out and enjoy life and do all of the things they enjoy doing – the things that make them happy – travel, playing with the kids, playing sports. We want to give them that back.”

He specializes in minimally invasive surgeries of the shoulder, hip and knee. He’s renowned for anterior hip replacements as one of the only doctors in the area who performs this surgery. Anterior hip replacement is simply more beneficial to patients.

“It’s a much better way of doing hip replacement,” Dr. Lipman says. “There’s a faster recovery, it’s less painful and, overall, the patient will have better functionality.”

He explains that the biggest difference to this approach is that muscle tissue is spread apart to access the hip, instead of the doctor cutting right through it.

“Patients are able to use stairs the day of or the day after surgery,” Dr. Lipman says. “Within one to two days, people are no longer using canes or walkers. A week later, they can ride a stationary bike and return to work quickly.”

When you treat people dealing with pain, you really get to know them, he says. That’s why it’s so important to take a personal approach.

“We’re a very personal and hands-on, community-oriented practice. You see a doctor every time you come in. You’re not filtered through an intermediary, a physician’s assistant or nurse.”

But his favorite thing is restoring people back to their more mobile selves.

“People are able to walk around with a new lease on life,” Dr. Lipman says. “They have better functionality, return to normal activities, and no longer have pain.”
