By offering the latest surgical approaches and advancements in knee and hip replacement surgery, Kevin Wang, M.D., helps patients enjoy freedom from pain, a smooth recovery and a faster return to daily activities.

“We are on the leading edge of robotic-assisted surgeries,” says Dr. Wang, an experienced orthopedic surgeon at Holy Cross Orthopedic Institute in Fort Lauderdale. “Paired with minimally invasive surgical approaches, such as the anterior total hip, this technology allows us to perform surgeries with greater precision, improving patient outcomes.”

Dr. Wang, who has fellowship training in robotic total joint arthroplasties (replacement surgery), also treats hip fractures and trauma of the lower extremities. A respected medical leader, he is vice chief of surgery at Holy Cross Hospital and an active member of the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Dr. Wang has been practicing at Holy Cross since 2014, when he and his wife moved to South Florida from Boston and started a family. As a fellow, he trained with Dr. Martin Roche, who was instrumental in developing and performing the first robotic knee replacement in the world. In the past decade, Dr. Wang has been active in surgical research from basic laboratory science to clinical trials, and he has published numerous papers on knee and hip treatments.

“With conventional hip and knee replacements, there is always some degree of subjectivity in our measurements and in implant placement,” he says. “With robotic technology, that gray area is virtually eliminated. Our goal is to ensure everything is in perfect balance and alignment after your surgery, thus maximizing patient outcomes and reducing complications.”

Dr. Wang adds that patients can be confident about the COVID-19 safety precautions in place throughout the facility: “We have ramped up our surgical cases, as there are so many patients living with pain who need our care. We keep them safe while helping them return to pain-free lives.”
