When NYU Langone Medical Center reached out to prominent local physician Louis D. Snyder, M.D., about becoming part of its academic medical team in 2017 he could not have been more surprised.

“I had no idea how they found me,” says Dr. Snyder, a triple boarded cardiologist trained at both Johns Hopkins and Harvard University, who for 30 years had his own successful five-physician cardiology practice in Delray Beach.

In addition to his clinical and interventional cardiology work, Dr. Snyder brought to the area the first practice-based nuclear camera, the first dedicated cardiac PET scanner and was one of the founding members of the area’s first 90-minute door-to-balloon program for heart attack victims.

Today, Dr. Snyder is a Clinical Associate Professor with NYU and serves as Palm Beach Regional Medical Director for New York University’s multispecialty clinical operations in Florida with offices in Delray Beach and West Palm Beach.

Dr. Snyder and his colleagues are part of NYU Langone’s 4,000-plus physician network providing “university-style” medicine to local communities. The Florida physicians treat the full range of cardiology conditions. In addition, their practice has added 12 providers doing primary care, internal medicine, endocrinology, and physical therapy, with more specialties to come next year.

“We have a deep bench of talent; all of my partners are incredibly good physicians, and we have a close relationship with the “world-class” faculty in New York,” says Dr. Snyder.

The match made sense since so many New Yorkers spend time in South Florida. If they need healthcare, they can be assured that their interactions with physicians in the network are seamless. All locations are connected via an electronic health record system that allows NYU physicians to receive up-to-date medical records and test results.

Dr. Snyder and all of the physicians associated with the NYU Langone network are full-time salaried university faculty, so their reimbursement isn’t dependent on what tests they order or limited by how much time they can spend with a patient.

“My philosophy is to provide concierge care without the concierge price,” says Dr. Snyder. Being part of a large and well-respected multispecialty healthcare system is important to Dr. Snyder. “It brings to our community a world-class university’s resources,” he says.
