Pain Management Physicians Of South Florida

Seth Wachsman, M.D. and Andrew J. Goldberg, M.D.

Board Certified Doctors Deliver Effective Personalized Solutions

Everyone’s pain is different. That’s why Andrew J. Goldberg, M.D., and Seth Wachsman, M.D., listen carefully to their patients and evaluate their painful condition before determining the most effective treatment.

“It’s important for us to speak directly with our patients about what they are experiencing,” says Dr. Wachsman, who co-founded Pain Management Physicians of South Florida with Dr. Goldberg. The practice has grown to five South Florida offices, including one in Boca Raton.

Both physicians are fellowship trained and triple board certified – exceptional credentials in the management of acute, chronic and cancer pain. Their work has also been published in numerous professional journals.

“We stay on the leading edge of our field, bringing innovative technology and effective personalized solutions for our patients,” says Dr. Goldberg, who is also chief of surgery at Northwest Medical Center in Margate.

For example, Dr. Wachsman has extensive experience in minimally invasive lumbar decompression (MILD), which can help some patients whose painful spinal stenosis makes it difficult for them to walk. It’s a 25-minute Medicare-covered procedure that restores normal blood flow to the spinal area.

Another pain-relieving technique involves spinal cord and peripheral nerve stimulators. A tiny Bluetooth-enabled electrode is implanted near the nerve and activated by a small battery on a wristband or belt.

“Turn it on, and it blocks the pain,” says Dr. Wachsman.

Patients with painful knee arthritis can benefit from COOLIEF, an effective alternative to surgery, according to Dr. Goldberg.

“This nerve-blocking technique is ideal for older adults and can also be used to eliminate hip pain from osteoarthritis and some types of lumbar joint inflammation,” he says.

Many patients also benefit from medical marijuana, which can relieve pain without the nausea or constipation from other medications.

“You don’t get a high, but it can help with the anxiety and depression that often accompanies chronic pain,” says Dr. Goldberg. “It can also allow you to reduce other medications and improve your overall quality of life.”
