Dr. Bradley Lamm Gets Patients Back On Their Feet

Bradley Lamm, DPM, FACFAS, a foot and ankle surgeon, comes from a long line of family members who were skilled with their hands — from carpenters, farmers, and airplane mechanics to engineers. So, it is no wonder that he became a surgeon.

Dr. Lamm says it was an orthopedic surgeon who treated him for a soccer injury he sustained as a youth who inspired his career path.

Dr. Lamm is renowned for his expertise in treating foot and ankle injuries and deformities. Patients come to see him from around the world at Paley Orthopedic & Spine Institute at St. Mary’s Medical Center, where he is the chief of foot and ankle surgery. He treats everything from sports injuries to arthritis, flatfoot, hammertoes and bunions.

Dr. Lamm invented a revolutionary, minimally invasive bunion device and procedure that corrects the bone alignment and soft tissue alignment in one surgery through a small incision.

“It allows patients to walk right after surgery, heal faster with less scar tissue, less pain and allows people to get back on their feet much quicker than traditional bunion surgery,” Dr. Lamm says.

Dr. Lamm has been able to save many patients from having a foot or limb amputation. He also corrects toe, foot and ankle deformities, fixes failed surgeries that others have performed and performs advanced surgical techniques to correct the diabetic Charcot foot.

“It’s a procedure that can save limbs,” Dr. Lamm says.

He also performs minimally invasive surgery to lengthen the metatarsals and toes for patients with Brachymetatarsia, a condition whereby one of the five metatarsal (foot) or toe bones of the foot is abnormally short.

For patients who have injured their ankle or have ankle arthritis, Dr. Lamm is one of only a few surgeons that offer total ankle joint replacement.

“I am on the cutting edge of the research to make sure the ankle implants work well and last a long time,” he says.

What sets Dr. Lamm apart from other foot and ankle surgeons is his precision and belief that “every millimeter matters.”

Additionally, Dr. Lamm differentiates himself from other surgeons by customizing the treatment plan for what each patient needs.
