Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders

The Parkinson’s Disease & Movement Disorders Center of Boca Raton was established in 1999 by Stuart H. Isaacson, M.D. to combine expert clinical diagnosis and treatment with access to one of the largest Parkinson’s clinical reseach centers in the U.S.

Dr. Isaacson is a board-certified neurologist and internationally-recognized expert in Parkinson’s disease, who has dedicated his life to helping patients who are suffering with Parkinson’s Disease and other movement disorders. With fellowships at National Institutes of Health and Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York — he has additionally spearheaded efforts to identify genetic causes of Parkinson’s Disease and create specialized treatments.

“We conduct cutting edge research to develop new therapies to treat symptoms and delay progression, offering wellness, exercises, memory, mindfulness and provide support services for patients, families and caregivers,” says Dr. Isaacson. For accurate diagnosis, the Center provides no-cost gene testing, skin biopsy, and DaTscan.

Dr. Isaacson directs a team of clinicians, nurses, research coordinators and social workers, combining a holistic clinical approach to treatment with access to clinical research trials. The center includes movement disorder specialists Sagari Betté, M.D. (Harvard, UMiami), Richard B. Dewey III, M.D. (Dallas, Southwestern), Nisha Chhabria, M.D. (Georgetown) and Richard Dewey Jr., M.D. (Mayo Clinic).

“We created a comprehensive center that integrates expert holistic clinical care and clinical research, with robust wellness programs,” Dr. Isaacson says. “It’s a place where patients can both get their symptoms addressed and also be aware of and decide whether to participate in trials looking for new therapies and ways to slow progression.”

The newly opened Parkinson’s Wellness Center offers educational lectures, daily wellness programs and support groups at no cost to the community, supported by the Parkinson’s Research and Education Foundation. Call to register for the upcoming Parkinson’s Update Symposium featuring national speakers.

“All patients are welcome at our Wellness center,” says Dr. Isaacson.

“We have expanded with a larger facility, exciting research programs evaluating new medications (for persistent symptoms to slow progression) and improving diagnosis (including the Michael J. Fox Foundation PPMI biomarker program and the Parkinson’s Foundation PD gene program). New patient appointments are now available in the same week.”
