Leading The Surgical Sports Medicine Team At Holy Cross Orthopedic Institute

Ross Wodicka, M.D., uses the latest surgical techniques and devices to treat patients with sports-related injuries and other shoulder, knee and hip problems.

“We help high-level athletes as well as ‘weekend warriors’ recover more quickly and get back to their favorite sports and recreational activities,” says Dr. Wodicka, a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who leads the surgical sports medicine team at Holy Cross Orthopedic Institute in Fort Lauderdale.

An expert in minimally invasive shoulder, knee and hip surgery, his practice focuses on rotator cuff and labral repairs, anatomic and reverse shoulder replacement, and arthroscopic hip and knee procedures.

“We offer cutting-edge surgical solutions that have only been available in the last few years,” Dr. Wodicka adds. “We also incorporate orthobiologics like platelet rich plasma (PRP) and stem cells, when appropriate, to enhance healing and speed recovery.”

He’s also involved in clinical trials involving new biomedical devices, such as shoulder implants, and other therapies.

“I enjoy doing research that can advance our field and help our patients regain their shoulder, knee or hip functions more quickly,” Dr. Wodicka says.

As a sports medicine specialist, he has treated professional, collegiate and high school athletes with excellent outcomes.

“Our institute is a referral center for doctors who refer complex shoulder and sports injury cases to us, including revision cases,” he says. “We are also one of South Florida’s only high-volume hip arthroscopy practices.”

When not treating patients, Dr. Wodicka enjoys spending time with his wife, Jennifer, a Boca Raton native, and their young son, Nash. They take advantage of the outdoors and the great Boca lifestyle, he says.

Dr. Wodicka began his career after completing an orthopedics residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital and a fellowship in complex arthroscopic surgery and reconstruction at the Southern California Orthopedic Institute in Los Angeles.

Reflecting on the growth of his practice, Dr. Wodicka says: “Our team’s award-winning care has been consistently recognized on the national level, and we are deeply committed to providing the best orthopedic care in South Florida.”
