If you have gained weight during the pandemic, you are not alone. It’s estimated that 61% of adults have put on the pounds — or as some call it, gaining the COVID-19.

Stress eating, closed gyms and the ability to wear comfortable clothing every day has created the perfect storm for weight gain. As people start to ease back into their pre-pandemic lifestyles, they are looking for ways to, not only shed those pounds, but also keep them off.

Unlike diets that promise a quick fix using pre-packaged meals and calorie counting, Adam Potash helps clients change their relationship with food, setting them on a path toward healthy living.

A former executive chef, Potash worked at high-end restaurants and country clubs and prepared food for sports figures and celebrities before earning a certification in Health and Nutrition from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York. Eight years ago, he launched The Approach.

“Accountability and sustainability are the two main aspects that are unique to my program,” Potash says. “I create a system around your life that you can do anywhere, anytime.”

Potash doesn’t just talk the talk. He grew up learning how to eat properly because he was diagnosed with high cholesterol, a hereditary condition, in his case. “Under the watchful eye of doctors, I grew up learning more about eating healthy than any other kids,” he says.

The Approach offers one-on-one coaching and group health coaching. In addition to weight loss, clients’ energy and mental focus improve.

Potash’s one of a kind support system consists of 24/7 access to him, along with a specific food logging app he monitors. Potash says this helps to assure clients are continually making the right food choice for their success.

He has helped clients lose a total of 10,000 pounds since starting The Approach, with an estimated 90% continuing to keep the weight off a year after the program.

“It’s not a program that deprives you. It’s about educating people about food and nutrition and how to eat well. I am teaching people to have a better relationship with food,” Potash says.
