Dr. Marc J. Hirsh And Team Offer A Host Of Non-Surgical Pain Treatment Options

From older individuals with arthritis to weekend warriors to professional athletes, Marc J. Hirsh, M.D., FACP, and his team of highly qualified specialists at The Hirsh Center for Arthritis and Sports Medicine have successfully treated patients for more than a decade.

The practice is one of only two Florida clinics and was the third in the nation to be accredited in musculoskeletal ultrasound, a state-of-the-art imaging technique that allows a physician to see in real-time the process of administering pain-relief and anti-inflammatory medications into tendons, ligaments and joints.

“Medical specialists have learned that using ultrasound needle guidance is superior to the use of a blind technique. Rheumatologists and sports medicine doctors have experienced far better results by utilizing ultrasound for needle guidance,” says Dr. Hirsh.

The accreditation process is extremely rigorous, and there are still fewer than 60 accredited practices nationally. In addition to having an accredited center, Dr. Hirsh also teaches physicians around the country how to use ultrasound for interventional and diagnostic purposes.

A board-certified rheumatologist, Dr. Hirsh’s team includes three rheumatologists, a sports medicine physician and a physician assistant in two locations: Delray Beach and on the campus of JFK Medical Center in Atlantis.

“It was a natural transition for us to add a sports medicine physician because we have a large subset of patients who have joint pain that is not autoimmune-related,” says  Dr. Hirsh.

The Hirsh Center’s goal is to offer patients non-surgical options for treating their pain, including platelet-richplasma injections (PRP), which uses a portion of the patient’s own blood topromote healing.

The center treats a wide range of conditions –everything from arthritis and autoimmune diseases to osteoporosis and gout.

“Our mission at The Hirsh Center is to provide precision joint care through state-of-the-art imaging techniques and compassionate healthcare, offering our patients a better quality of life,” says Dr. Hirsh.
